Board Member

Prince Kanokanga is an associate at Kanokanga & Partners with experience in aviation, arbitration, corporate and commercial law, employment and labour law, family law, real estate, social enterprises and tourism. He has advised local and international clients on regulatory and compliance issues, civil litigation, international arbitration matters, trust and non-governmental organisations.

Prince has incredible knowledge of various legal systems having studied in Zambia and worked in Mauritius prior to joining Kanokanga & Partners and brings a wealth of experience covering both onshore and offshore transactions. Part of his day-to-day responsibilities include providing legal assistance to local and international clients on day-to-day operations from a regulatory and corporate point of view, as well as in project communication strategies and implementation.

Prince sits on the board of several companies and other non – governmental organisations (NGOs) in Zimbabwe. He has experience in advising companies and NGOs of various local, regional and international matters and has existence experience advising NGOs and other charitable organisations and understands project lifecycles, donor-funded project compliance and asset management matters and the use of public funds. He participated in the prestigious China – Africa Legal Professionals Exchange Programme 2024.

Prince and his father, Davison Kanokanga were the Guest Editors of the Midlands State University Law Review Special Issue (2022) whose special focus was on nature and scope of consumer arbitration, investor-state arbitration, evidentiary jurisdiction of the courts and selected case law on arbitral awards. Prince is one of the budding scholar and arbitrator in Zimbabwe.

He is the author of The Law of Costs in Zimbabwe: Text, Cases & Materials (Burble, Durban, 2021) and the co-author of UNCITRAL Model Law on International Arbitration: A Commentary on the Zimbabwe Arbitration Act [Chapter 7:15] (Juta & Co, Cape Town, 2022). He regularly acts as an arbitrator in Zimbabwe and is a panel member of the Alternative Dispute Solutions Centre (‘ADSC’), the African Institute of Mediation and Arbitration (‘AIMA’) and the Commercial Arbitration Centre (‘CAC’). He also appears of the Law Society of Zimbabwe President’s List of Arbitrators and Mediators.
